HELLO!
My name is Amy Illovsky, and I'm a newly registered dietitian. After completing a Bachelor of Science in Dietetics from Western Illinois University, I completed my dietetic internship at Illinois State University, where I received a Master of Science in Family & Consumer Sciences.
My interest in dietetics gradually formed over time. However, the final push that made me want to officially study dietetics was my diagnosis with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and insulin resistance. The symptoms interfered with my life, and I became empathetic to those with similar problems and realized that people with diabetes have a serious condition. Soon after my diagnosis, a doctor referred me to a dietitian who educated me on diabetes and healthy eating. This inspired me to study dietetics as a way to both help myself and to help others with medical issues that may be positively influenced by a change in diet.
